London's West End shows are famous around the world and it is here that you can see some the best. However, the elaborate and renowned shows of the West End aren't the only worthwhile performances to consider, smaller stages also put on some fantastic shows. Seeing a smaller show is also cheaper than a major West End show, so if you can't stretch your budget to a show like 'We Will Rock You,' there is sure to be something else. London's smaller plays take place in the centre of the city or a short distance from it. The public transport system is frequent, so you will have no problems travelling from your central London hotel to any of the venues mentioned here. One Man, Two GuvnorsLocated in central London's Adelphi Theatre, 'One Man, Two Guvnors' will have you laughing your socks off. It is getting fantastic reviews from even the toughest critics and audiences are loving it. The show has taken an 18th-century play and transported it to modern times, well the 1960's. It has performances everyday, except for Sunday at 7.30pm. There is also a matinee performance on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm. Ticket prices aren't too bad. You can buy one for as little as £12 and the most expensive they get is £55. Matinees will have cheaper prices and they are often easier to get to, since you won't be fighting for space in the tube at rush hour to make it to the weekday evening performances. Noises OffLocated at another central London theatre and one of the city's most famous one's, 'Noises Off' is another extremely well-received play that runs at The Old Vic until 25 February. It will give you sidesplitting laughs as you want the cast perform as a touring theatre company that is rather inefficient at what they do. The cheapest seats cost only £10 and you can find these seats for the 2.30pm matinee shows. If you want to treat yourself to the best seats in the house expect to pay £49.50. The theatre is easy to reach by bus or tube, or even on foot if it is close to your London hotel. Oddsocks' Hamlet - The ComedyIf you love Shakespeare or want an entertaining introduction, then this play is well worth checking out. The play will be running until March at Jackson's Lane Theatre in Highgate, which is in North London. Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' is turned into a comedic performance, complete with pantomime. The two-hour show takes place in the evening at 7.30pm, there are no matinees. However, ticket prices are very reasonable, costing only £12.50. Each theatre mentioned here is close to a tube station, so finding them won't be hard. You also won't waste too much time travelling to them from your accommodation in London, which will help give you more time to enjoy your trip.
